Britain's Missing Top Model (BBC3 Tuesday) was making a brave attempt to challenge our fondness for safe celebrity conformity.
Would we – could we – readily accept a disabled supermodel... in a wheelchair or with a missing limb for instance?
Do our perceptions of beauty extend comfortably beyond the Barbie doll image of perfection?
The answer to all the above is yes, yes and again yes – but we are not the problem.
In fashion, film and TV industries yet to recognise the existence of size-14 women, a bit of self-scrutiny wouldn’t go amiss.
