The gold medal for being booed goes to...

THE glorious Paralympics have drawn to a close and with them has gone the last hope of London 2012’s hot, sunny summer making a last minute sprint into Cumbria.

All that’s left is time for reflection now. Time to look back fondly on the inspiring highlights of those breathtaking games.

How to choose? The extraordinary talents of blade-running medallists, the breathtaking energy of Ellie Simmonds, that heart-stopping wheelchair marathon? The opening ceremony, Cold Play’s closure?

Or Chancellor George Osborne’s incredible, yet effortless, record-breaking achievement as the fastest, single-handed securer of instantaneous and unanimous opinion poll return... by a mile.

Even-handedness forbids me – but you have to admit, his achievement was pretty outstanding. I’d say he gets my vote but...
