Teenage cyclist taken to hospital after Carlisle accident

A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following an accident in Carlisle.

He was riding his bike in Caldewgate when he was involved in a collision with a car.

He suffered leg injuries.

It happened in Caldewgate, outside the Golden Pheasant Chinese Restaurant and opposite Sainsbury's filling station at 8.30am.

Two ambulances and several police cars were at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 8.30am by North West Ambulance Service to a report of a 13-year-old boy on a bicycle colliding with a car.

"The boy has left the scene via ambulance with a suspected leg injury. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or altering."
