Rugby tour at risk after club house break-in
Published at 15:14, Thursday, 14 March 2013
A burglary at a rugby club house has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
A quantity of money and 1920 gold County Cup winners' medals were stolen from the safe at Workington RFC's Ellis Sports Ground.
Club chairman William McCoubrey warned the raid may result in a May tour being cancelled.
Police are investigating the incident, in which it is believed access was gained through the roof.
Mr McCoubrey said: "Everybody here works hard and this is upsetting."
Last night's break-in means a darts competition due to be held tonight will not take place.
Anyone with information should call Cumbria police on 101.
