Woman stole from four Carlisle shops

A 53-year-old woman has admitted stealing from four shops in Carlisle.
Angela Gail Wynne, of Townhead Road, Cotehill, admitted taking a beef joint and chicken from Marks & Spencer, toiletries from Bodycare, false eyelashes from Boots and cheese and shampoo from Tesco’s.
Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard how Wynne was found by police in the Lanes shopping centre and, when she saw the officer, she put her hands up and toiletries fell from her coat.
Defence solicitor Martin Mc Alistair told the court that Wynne had a lot of personal problems recently and was on medication prescribed by her doctor. She had stopped taking it and this caused her behaviour to change.
He said she was now taking it again and feeling a little better.
Magistrates gave her a one-year conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £31 compensation to Marks & Spencer and £3.30 for the cheese. The other items were recovered undamaged.
