Woman seriously hurt after motorbikes crash

A motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a crash between two bikes near Alston yesterday lunchtime.
The 44-year-old woman was airlifted to a major trauma centre in Newcastle with multiple injuries which were said to be ‘severe’.
Her condition was this morning described as serious but not life-threatening.
The Great North Air Ambulance’s Pride of Cumbria helicopter was called to the scene, on the A689 at Slaggyford, along with an ambulance and police.
The woman was stabilised before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
A man was also taken by road ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with less serious injuries.
- A man from Brampton was fighting for his life in hospital after a two-car crash at Low Row on Friday evening. He was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary.
