Woman injured in road crash near Carlisle

A woman suffered minor injuries after a lorry and car collided today.

The A7 was initially blocked south of Longtown after the crash, three miles from Carlisle, shortly before 7am. The road reopened with a contraflow in place about an hour later.

Anthony Rooney, crew manager with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service at Carlisle, said they got the woman out of the car with the help of paramedics.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they were called out at 6.45am following reports that the 46-year-old woman had suffered cuts to her face. She was treated at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

The 44-year-old lorry driver was not injured.
