Woman bitten on face during lengthy attack

A woman was bitten on the face during a vicious attack that left her with a number of injuries.

The 19-year-old was in the Navvies Bridge area of Workington when she was assaulted between 8.30pm and 9pm on Tuesday, June 17.

A police spokesman said the teenager was subjected "to an assault lasting quite some time" before she was helped home by a friend.

The nature and extent of her injuries have not been disclosed.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the attack, or who saw it, to call them on 101.

Details of the incident have just been released by police.
