Whitehaven town centre streets to close for repairs

Two streets in Whitehaven will be closed next week so resurfacing can take place.

Scotch Street and Lowther Street will shut from 7pm to 7am for two nights each, from Monday.

Work is expected to begin in Scotch Street on Monday and Tuesday night and continue in Lowther Street on Wednesday and Thursday night.

Cumbria County Council said the noisiest part of the work will be done in the early evening to avoid disruption.

Residents should make alternative arrangements and move their vehicles if they normally park them outside their houses.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be available.

For more information contact the council’s highways team on 0845 609 6609.

Should the law banning fox hunting be repealed?

No. It's cruel, unnecessary and should be strengthened

Yes. The law is frequently broken anyway. It's unenforceable

Why waste the time when there's so many more important things to address?
