Whitehaven man to go on trial accused of nose biting

A man is to go on trial accused of biting a man in a disturbance in west Cumbria.

David Burns, 35, of Red Lonning, Whitehaven, was arrested after John Young was hurt in the incident on March 31 last year.

At Carlisle Crown Court today he pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing him grievous bodily harm.

Burns was remanded on bail to await his trial, which will take place over two days in the week of March 24.
