West Cumbrian pair deny hiding fugitive from police

Two people have appeared before a judge accused of sheltering a man the police were looking for in Workington.

Leigh Beach and Louisa Stephenson, both 34, had originally been charged with assisting an offender.

But at Carlisle Crown Court that was replaced by an allegation they had attempted to pervert the course of justice by assisting Alan Kendrick to evade lawful arrest by allowing him to conceal himself in a house in Lady Court, Workington.

Beach, who lives in Lady Court, and Stephenson, whose address was listed as Crosby Street, Maryport, both pleaded not guilty.

They were remanded on bail and will go on trial in the week of December 17.
