Two vehicles were seized for being uninsured in an all-night police crackdown around Appleby.
Officers stopped 62 vehicles on Wednesday evening and the early hours of Thursday in an operation that coincided with the end of Appleby Horse Fair.
Fifteen vehicles and individuals were searched for a variety of reasons including suspicion of possession of drugs and stolen property.
One person was reported for dangerous driving.
Eight were breathalysed and crime-prevention advice was given regarding the security of quad bikes, trailers and heating oil or diesel following a spate of thefts in recent weeks.
Trading standards officers also took part to deal with offences involving the transportation of animals.
Sergeant Jo Fawcett, of Cumbria’s roads policing unit, said: “This multi-operation was a success with more than 60 motorists stopped, spoken to and a variety of advice handed out.
“Some offences were detected and two vehicles that were uninsured were removed from our roads.
“As part of our ongoing drink drive campaign, we breathalysed eight motorists.
“However, no arrests were made.”
She added: “This was just one of many operations that we run with the support of partner agencies to deny criminals access to our roads.
“We will continue to target those who take risks on our roads to make sure that law-abiding road users are safe.”
Police say that numerous other suspected offences will be the subject of further investigation.
