Two arrested after hammer incident in Cumbrian town centre

Two people were arrested this afternoon after an incident involving a hammer outside a Job Centre.

A man was allegedly seen threatening another male with the hammer outside the offices on Vulcans Lane, Workington, before driving off.

About 10 minutes later, at 1pm, a 22-year-old was arrested outside the town's bus station on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 19-year-old local woman was also arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both were in police custody this afternoon.

A vehicle was located nearby and has been seized by police along with a hammer.
