Turbine plans all set for approval

PLANNING bids for two wind turbines could get the go-ahead next week.

Malcolm Ashworth, of Distributed Generation Ltd, wants to put up a 197ft turbine at Brayton Park, Aspatria. He already has permission for a 203ft turbine but has submitted the new plan as he wants to change the design.

Allerdale Council has received eight letters objecting to the plan. But planning officers have recommended that the plans be approved.

They recommend that permission should be given for the turbine to operate for 25 years.

And plans have been lodged for a 114ft turbine at Hall Bank, Maryport.

Allerdale received 15 letters objecting to the plans on grounds including the effect on the landscape, visual impact and industrialisation of a rural area.

But planning officers have recommended that the development panel gives planning permission for the turbine to operate for 25 years.

The meeting will be at The Wave Centre, Maryport, at 1pm on Tuesday.
