Three teenagers attacked by gang in Carlisle subway

Three teenagers were attacked by a gang of thugs in an underpass.

The violence happened in a subway leading from Carlisle city centre, with an 18-year-old and two 17-year-olds, all male, assaulted.

The thugs attacking them struck in the underpass beneath Victoria Place.

Police said two of those assaulted suffered minor injuries. Officers were alerted at 12.30pm yesterday.

The force is investigating and appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward on 101.

New law allows police to stop drivers and test for the influence of drugs. Will it work?

It must. Drug-driving, like drink-driving, is a killer

How can it? New law keeps giving police more to do, while police numbers are being cut. Madness!

There's no evidence of law preventing use of mobile phones in cars working, so why would it?
