Thin Lizzy to play gig in Carlisle

Rock legends Thin Lizzy are set to play a headline show in Carlisle, it has been announced.

Have your say

Ive recently seen Thin Lizzy with Ricky, GnR without Slash, Black Sabbath without Bill and these shows have been without a doubt some of the best ive seen - people get over it - life goes on and its too short to sit at home and whinge about how things aren't the same as the old days! Im coming to Carlisle to see the show as im sure lots of Scots will so if you dont want to see them more tickets for us! Oh and Bruce D is not the original singer with Maiden!

Garry also did some work on the material for the Nightlife album, after Eric Bell left. Although the final recordings were done by Brian Robertson. Eric Bell and Brian Downey were the first true members of Thin Lizzy. Eric actualy only wanted Brian to join him but Phil also joined to play Bass. The name Thin Lizzy was agreed on between these three members. As Brian still plays with the band i would have thought he is quite within his rights to still use the name Thin Lizzy. The classic Thin Lizzy lineup was actually the 3rd or 4th lineup, so should they have dropped the name after Eric left.

James, maybe you aren't a regular gig goer, I travel alot to see bands & its about what you expect to pay for venues that size. Try & find the money, you wont be disappointed, they rock with Ricky, no one was a bigger Phil fan than me but Ricky does a great job

I still remember going to see Thin Lizzy all those years ago.
Tickets from the Pink Panther and a raggy pair of jeans made one hell of a night.
Phil Lynott made a comment about the old market hall being like a greenhouse
i also remember the neon light packed in
Brilliant memories

I would love to attend but at £30.00 a pop i fear i wont be able to afford 2 tickets for me and my wife.
I am sure it will sell well but i seriously think ticketing at the Sands is a tad steep these days. I would go so far as to say £20 quid each and you would pull in a bigger audience to bring the revenues to the same level as at £30.00.

Are we going to get all the negative comments when Hawkwind play in the city next month, like i'm not seing them because there's no lemmy, dik mik, nik turner etc.etc. People flog to see concerto's performing beethoven, mozart and the like. these composers died hundreds of years ago. Its the legacy that counts. Otherwise all the great bands from the seventies will naturally cease to exist due to age, health and existance in other planes (died) of band members. Long may the legacy live. Some readers may not realise that it was phil lynnot who called a day on the lizzy in 83. then went on to form his 'new' band grand slam who i saw in whitehaven of all places at the famous whitehouse, and met the man as well.

If I can make it I'll be there, I can't believe the amount of whingers on here, I accept that no other voice will sound like Phil Lynott but Thin Lizzy was also about the blistering dual guitar work. I believe that this will be a fantastic gig, almost on my doorstep and I agree with other posters we need more gigs like this in Cumbria, our local festivals proove that bands like the Stanglers, Buzzcocks, SLF as well as acts like Magnum and Uriah Heap can fill venues and bring people in, I'd prefer to have proper musicians like these guys than the so called musicians in todays charts.

People keep saying they want live bands to play Carlisle, now a legendary one is. So stop winging and support them.

Well said Stealth, They will be fantastic and so will Hugh Cornwell ex lead singer of The Stranglers on 03 10 12 in The Brickyard. Carlisle needs more gigs like these.
