Views wanted on Carlisle council's new tenancy strategy

People are being asked to give their views on homelessness, social housing and the way the issues are handled.

Carlisle City Council is drawing up a new tenancy strategy in response to national housing reforms.

The Government’s Localism Act could mean changes in the way people arre allocated social housing, the way tenancies are issued and the way councils respond to people who say they are homeless.

This means the authority must produce a strategy setting out its housing objectives, which will have a knock-on effect for housing associations.

Council housing officials are consulting on the draft strategy document, available from Carlisle Civic Centre, before a final version of it is published in January.

Views are being sought particularly from tenants, those involved in providing housing and resident and tenants’ groups.

Responses and questions can be emailed to anthonya@carlisle.gov.uk or sent to: Tenancy Strategy consultation, Community Engagement, Carlisle City Council, Civic Centre, Rickergate, Carlisle, CA3 8QG.

Consultation closes on November 23.
