Son ran at mum with iron bar in Carlisle

A son ran shouting and brandishing a metal bar at his mother, forcing her to reverse her car to get away.

Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard how 19-year-old Robert Morrison ran at his mother Cheryl Price shouting “I hate you” after a row.

He had been waiting outside her home on Monday, January 20 when his mother drove up in her Vauxhall Meriva.

He was carrying a metal bar and scratched the car before jumping on its roof.

The court heard how his mother reversed the car to get away before calling police.

Morrison, who gave his address as Borland Avenue, Botcherby, admitted criminal damage to the car and damaging a patio door handle. The total damage caused was £100.

Representing himself, he the court it was an “argument between them”. He said he was sorry now and disputed getting on the car roof.

Magistrates fined him £65 with prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim’s surcharge.
