Soft play plan for Lillyhall

A CHILDREN’S soft play centre with a mini-bowling alley is planned for the Lillyhall Industrial Estate in Workington, creating six jobs.

Maria Baker, of Whitehaven, has submitted plans to Allerdale Council for the change of use of the units on Blackwood Road. It will create two full-time and four part-time jobs.

The plans include a large soft play area for two to 12-year-olds, a baby and toddler soft play area, two party rooms and an arcade room with rides and games plus a two-lane bowling alley.

There would also be baby massage classes, story and rhyme time sessions, mother and toddler sessions and a sensory room for children with additional needs.

The centre would include a cafe.

Mrs Baker, who has owned four nurseries in Cheshire and Workington over 24 years, said: “The proposal seeks to provide recreational facilities encouraging health and well-being, developing creativity, motor skills, physical development and social skills through play and interaction of our next generation.”
