Sisters making sure charity is given a cut

IT’S NOT every girl’s wish to grow her hair long and then suddenly chop the lot off, but that’s what two sisters did for charity.

Ally Goodfellow, 15, and Steph Williams, 20, got their long locks trimmed down to size to help others.

They are set to donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment.

The Abbeytown girls had tried to donate to the charity in the past but discovered that their hair was not long enough, so have waited for four years to ensure they have the correct length.

There was tension in the air as the sisters got ready to lose around 10 inches of their hair.

Steph said: “I was looking forward to it a little bit but I was nervous as well.”

Ally agreed, and added: “I was glad once it was over – as soon as I heard that snip!

“It was long before but it’s above the shoulder now.

“I love it – it’s so much different now.”

Steph said: “I’m really pleased with mine as well.”

Steph chose to have her new style layered with curls while Ally went for a bob.

Their mum Michelle Wall said: “I burst into tears when saw it because it was such a shock.

“It’s been four years with long hair but they look absolutely stunning.

“They keep running their fingers through their hair.”

The pair decided to donate to the unusual charity after hearing about it from one of their mum’s friends. Their stylish new-look cuts were provided at Boyd Hair and Beauty on Bank Street in Carlisle.
