Three charged with neglect at north Cumbria care home

Three people have been charged in connection with alleged incidents at a north Cumbria nursing home.

It follows an investigation by police into safeguarding issues at the Beacon Edge Nursing Home in Penrith.

Those charged are:

  • Chevonne Benson, 22, of Roman Road, Penrith, charged with seven counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect
  • William Bowman, 21, of Bowscar, near Penrith, charged with 10 counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect. He is also charged with one sexual offence against a woman in the Penrith area.
  • Claire Strong, 20, of Clifton, near Penrith, charged with three counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect.

They were charged on Friday and will appear before Carlisle magistrates on February 7.
