'Racist gang' tried to snatch man's bag

A gang of men hurled racist abuse at a passer-by before trying to snatch his bag, say police.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 2pm on April 9, to come forward.

The 30-year-old man was walking along Mossbay Road, Workington, towards the TA Centre when four men shouted racist abuse at him. They then grabbed his bag, causing it to split.

The man ran off and when he got home, found items were missing from the bag.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them on 101.
