Police want to speak to this man

It happened on Sunday at the Co-op store in Curzon Street, Maryport.

Police have today released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

At the time of the raid, staff were on their way into the store prior to opening.

But before the sliding doors locked behind them, the man stopped them and forced his way into the store.

Police said staff told him to leave, but he ignored them. He then took two cases of Budweiser and two packets of chocolate buttons.

When he attempted to leave, staff tried to stop him but said he became aggressive and threatening. Fearing violence, they then let him leave.

Anyone with any information about the incident, or the man in the CCTV image, should call PC Joanne Philip on 101. Alternatively they can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
