Man in serious condition after assault in Workington

A man is in a serious condition after being attacked in Workington.

The victim, a 26-year-old man from the town, was assaulted in Bolton Street shortly after 8pm on Saturday.

Details of the assault have just been released by police, who said the man is in a “serious but stable state in a north east hospital”.

A 33-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail.

Anyone who may have been in the Bolton Street area at the time and may have information is asked to contact PC Christopher Harland at Workington police station on 101.
