Carlisle pensioner duped by doorstep conman

A pensioner was duped by a doorstep conman into paying for a job that was not carried out.

An investigation is underway after a fraudster called at the home of a woman aged in her seventies in Carlisle.

Officers said the man carried out the con in Holmrook Road, Sandsfield Park, arriving at the victim’s house at 10.30am on Thursday. The woman paid for repairs to her roof – but no work was carried out.

The woman was not harmed. The man was white and in his twenties.

Police are appealing for people to contact them who may have any information or who saw anything suspicious.

Call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
