Road crash caused delays in Carlisle city centre

Four cows were left trapped after the tractor pulling the trailer they were in overturned on one of Carlisle’s busiest roads.

The driver of the vehicle was not believed to be hurt following the smash at Georgian Way, off Hardwicke Circus, just before 11am.

A vet was called and the southbound side of the dual carriageway was blocked. Fire crews were also called out.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.
