Road closed in west Cumbria due to major gas leak

Part of the A5086 from Egremont to Cockermouth has been closed due to a gas leak.

Police said the road was closed at Forge garage, at Cleator, and would remain shut until midday today.

Engineers from Northern Gas are working on the leak and have reduced the local gas pressure so they can begin repairs.

Diversions are in place.
