Risk to jobs at Carlisle United

Bosses at Carlisle United have warned that some jobs will be axed as a result of the club’s annual review of its business operations.

The warning was given yesterday amid speculation that several jobs at the Brunton Park club may be at risk.

A spokesman for the club told the News & Star: “At the end of last season we did a financial review, and identified a number of areas where we are going to have to restructure.

“Every department at the moment is going through a process of looking at how efficient it is.

“Some positions will have to go in some areas of the business but these decisions won’t be taken lightly. We need to finish our consultation process internally.”

He added that the club always reviews its operations at the end of every season. Managers wanted the club to run efficiently, and successfully as a business.

The spokesman added that the number of jobs to go will have been decided by the end of the month.
