Replacement bridge lifted into place in Cumbria

A footbridge has been lifted into place almost three years after its predecessor was swept away by floods.
The £500,000 river crossing at Camerton bridges the Derwent between the village and Great Clifton.
It will officially open next month and is the last major public right of way scheme to be completed since the 2009 floods.
The crossing was paid for with £310,000 from Cumbria County Council’s flood recovery fund and £190,000 from the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.
The replacement work was carried out by Lumsden & Carroll Civil Engineering and was designed and built by Nusteel Limited.
