Repairs to start on A66 road in west Cumbria

Part of the A66 at Bassenthwaite Lake will be resurfaced over the next two weeks.
Around 900 yards of both carriageways at Beck Wythop, east of the dual carriageway section, will be re-laid from Monday.
The £300,000 scheme will take two weeks to complete. Temporary traffic lights will be installed.
Convoy arrangements, with a contractor’s vehicle leading drivers past the roadworks, will also be used at times.
Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said it was essential maintenance work.
“As well as tackling surface wear and tear, the work will involve the partial reconstruction of the carriageway foundations,” he said.
“Drivers using this part of the A66 should leave a little bit of extra time for journeys as short delays at the temporary traffic lights are likely. We would like to thank drivers for their patience in advance.”
Work is due to be finish on March 8.
