Reduced rate for ridding Carlisle homes of mice

Mice infestations will be treated for a knock-down price in Carlisle this autumn.

The city council said it was discounting its pest control fee for the vermin, as they typically start to enter homes when the colder weather starts.

The discounted price – from £88 to £50 – will run for the next three months, starting in October and ending on December 30.

A spokesperson said extra discounts were available for the elderly and those who get high rate disability living allowance.

Elsie Martlew, who has responsibility for the environment and transport with the city council, said: “Although mice populations tend to stay constant, they often start entering homes in autumn for a warmer, more comfortable habitat. Our discount is targeted for the peak time for pest control and I hope residents reap the benefit.”

A spokesperson for the city council said they aimed to visit properties which have a mouse or other vermin problem within two working days.
