STAFF at St Dunstan's College are celebrating their success after receiving a glowing report from independent school inspectors.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) visited the school, in Stanstead Road, last November, and found the junior school has many strengths and no significant weaknesses.

Inspectors found pupils were well-cared for and at the end of key stages one and two, pupils achieve results which are higher than comparable schools.

A sizeable proportion of teaching was classed as very good or excellent.

Whilst there were no significant weaknesses, improvements could be made when screening key stage one pupils for special educational needs and strengthening links between pre-prep and prep departments.

Headmaster John Gaskell said: “This extremely positive report reflects very well on the high quality of staff at the school and shows pupils are getting a very good start in their education.

“The school is shown to provide a caring environment, in which children are offered a good all round education both academically and in broader curricular activities such as music, drama and sport.”

ISI carried out the inspection because the school wishes to become accredited to the Independent Schools Council.
