Radio pair set to walk the Wall
Last updated at 11:48, Tuesday, 01 September 2009
TWO of Britain’s best known radio personalities will be broadcasting from Cumbria this week.
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie are walking along Hadrian’s Wall, stopping off to present their award-winning BBC Radio 2 show on the way.
They will be joined by guests including folk band Noah And The Whale, folk quartet The Unthanks, indie rockers British Sea Power and singer-songwriter Richard Hawley.
The pair will set off from Bowness-on-Solway on Friday and arrive at Wallsend next Thursday, September 10. Radcliffe said: “It’s one of the great British Walks and I can’t wait to get out on the trail. There’s something deeply satisfying about crossing the country of your birth from coast to coast.”
Neil Carney, marketing Manager of Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Limited (HWHL) said: “We’re very excited that Stuart and Mark are going to be walking all the way along Hadrian’s Wall and getting the chance to see one of Britain’s greatest heritage sites, as well the stunning and varied scenery.
“More than 8,000 people walk the trail each year.”
