Last updated at 12:30, Monday, 25 June 2012
A police investigation has been launched after a four-year-old boy was bitten by a large dog in a Cumbrian pub.
The youngster had been on holiday with his parents when he was bitten, at around 5.15pm at the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater near Cockermouth on Monday June 4.
A police spokesman said that the child was bitten on the lower leg and his injuries were serious enough to require medical attention.
The dog involved, which was said to be on a lead at the time of the incident, was brown and of the Presa Canario type breed. The breed, also known as canary dogs, are typically large with a thick and muscular body.
A spokeswoman for Cumbria Constabulary said today that police want to trace the owner, who was said to have been upset by what happened, so that they can clarify what happened.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the officer who is investigating the incident, PC 1824 Dawn McCauley, using the non-emergency police number 101.
