Prison warning for Silloth teen who admitted affray charge
Last updated at 12:49, Tuesday, 02 October 2012
A teenager from Silloth has been warned he could be locked up for the part he played in a violent incident.
Benjamin Rowell, 18, of Waver Street, was due to go on trial at Carlisle Crown Court having previously pleaded not guilty to using unlawful violence which would have caused people to fear for their personal safety.
But after lengthy discussions with his legal advisers, he changed his plea to guilty on that charge of affray.
Rowell’s barrister Nigel Beeson said he accepted that “on any view” it was a serious offence.
Rowell was released on bail for background reports and will be sentenced on November 9.
Judge Paul Batty QC told him: “Obviously the court will be considering all sentencing options – including custody.”
