The coroner has been informed and an inquest into her death is scheduled to be opened tomorrow.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision which also left a Longtown woman with multiple injuries. The woman, who was driving a dark blue Audi TT, was flown to Royal Preston Infirmary with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The male passenger in Ms Jones' vehicle was also taken to hospital suffering chest injuries.

The driver of the third vehicle, also a Volkswagen Golf, was uninjured.
