Police name three men killed in crash on main Cumbrian road

Police have named the three men killed in the crash on the A596 road this morning.
They were Jamie Lee Edmondson, aged 22, from School Close, Maryport, Todd Ridley, 18, from Nether View, Maryport and Michael John Harrison, 47, from Queens Park, Aspatria.
Mr Edmondson was the driver of a Honda Civic car that was in collision with a Rover 220 car, being driven by Mr Harrison, on the A596 at Crosby Villa, near Maryport, at about 5.20am.
Mr Ridley was a passenger in the Honda.
All three men died at the scene.
The families of those involved are being supported by police family liaison officers.
The road was closed and diversions were in place until about 12noon. Drivers were urged to avoid the area, if possible.
Any witnesses should call the western police road unit on 101.
