Police called to couple arguing in Carlisle street

Police were called to a couple arguing on Botchergate in Carlisle.

Laurence Daniel Tiffin, 22, pushed his girlfriend after she struck him and she fell to the ground, Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard.

Police arrived to find the couple arguing and Tiffin, of Warnell Drive, Harraby, was searched.

A small amount of cocaine was found on him and he admitted two offences of possessing cocaine and one of threatening behaviour, following the incident at 2.30pm on Sunday, March 3.

He told the court his girlfriend stumbled backwards and fell after he grabbed her arm but he admitted he had also drunk lager and cider.

Tiffin was fined £200 for possessing the class A drugs and £175 for the threatening words or behaviour offence. He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 with a £34 victim surcharge.
