Plea for volunteers to help light up Hadrian’s Wall
Published at 14:08, Friday, 31 August 2012
AN URGENT appeal for more volunteers has been issued ahead of a major arts event, starting tonight.
The Connecting Light arts installation will see the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall – from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend – lit up by a series of 400 huge balloons to coincide with London 2012 celebrations.
But ahead of its launch this evening, organisers are desperately seeking additional volunteers from Cumbria. Twenty people are still needed to man the stretch at Bowness-on-Solway, between Burgh by Sands and Drumburgh. The installation will be live between 8pm and 11pm tonight and tomorrow.
Volunteers would need to be available between 3pm and 11pm, staying with the installation during this time.To help call Kerry Shaw on 01434 609700 or email kerry.shaw@hwhl.co.uk.
