Pipe burst leaves 4,000 Cumbrian properties without water

Four thousand Cumbrian homes and businesses have water again after a pipe burst this morning.
A 15-inch water main near to the reservoir on Stainburn Road in Workington burst. It supplies water to up to 4,000 properties across the town and a nearby village.
Westfield Primary School, Seaton Junior School and Seaton Academy had to close as a result.
The burst was reported at 8.10am after homes in Seaton either had a poor water supply or no supply at all.
A United Utilities spokeswoman said they had received more than 50 calls.
She added that a burst water pipe on Barncroft Avenue, Seaton, this morning was coincidental and had been fixed.
She apologised for the incident and said engineers will work through the night to fix the main pipe.

Absolutely no effect at all as I was out of the house before the sun got out of bed this morning.
Come on United Utilities - you're doing a grand job lads (and lasses). Pop round for a cuppa when you've got it sorted - you'll need one!!!(Don't forget to run your taps for a couple of minutes to clear any soup from the pipes).Cheers

Trickle of brownish water coming through the taps now in Seaton. Gonna take quite a while to run my bath tonight.
