Person seriously hurt in north Cumbria motorway crash

Emergency services were called to an accident which closed a northbound lane of the M6.

It happened at 12.20pm today and left one person with what police described as “serious injuries”. The lane has since reopened.

The collision – which was between junction 40 Penrith and junction 41 Catterlen – involved a white Vauxhall van and a Citroen C1 car.

Cumbria police, North West Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene.

It is not known whether the serious injuries are considered life threatening.
