Penrith MP Rory Stewart engaged to be married

Cumbrian MP Rory Stewart has confirmed he is engaged to be married.

Mr Stewart, who represents Penrith and the Border, told a Sunday newspaper that he was engaged to American Shoshana Clark.

The couple met in 2006 when both were working with the Turquoise Mountain Foundation, set up by 39-year-old Mr Stewart in Afghanistan.

She moved to London last September to live with Mr Stewart, who also has a rural home in Cumbria.
