Overturned HGV closes M6 near Carlisle

An overturned HGV forced the closure of the M6 northbound near Carlisle this morning.

The motorway was closed between junction 44 Carlisle North and junction 45, Gretna.

Matrix signs were set to 40mph.

At one point, traffic congestion was back to junction 43, say police.

The stretch has now reopened.

Elsewhere on the motorway, one lane is closed southbound between junction 42 Carlisle South and junction 41 Catterlen because of emergency repair work. Matrix signs have been set to 40mph.
