the residents of church road put up daily with the onslaught of huge volumes of traffic worsened during school term time..a good percentage of cars parked on church road do not belong to residents but drivers who live in a different area that cant park near their own home..I agree about the total disregard of traffic signs and road markings but this is surely due to the lack of policing or regulating of the area..primrose terrace and crescent suffer intolerable noise levels and constant bombardment of traffic....how will Harrington cope with all the extra traffic and lorries etc a new housing estate will bring...not to mention the increase in school run traffic..

If there is a shortage of houses in Allerdale why did the council knock down reasonabley good houses and leave the land derelect for weeds to grow.
Why allow the old co-op on salterbeck to be knocked down and the re- building work to stay as an eye sore with weeds growing everywhere.
There is plenty of spare land around Workington where homes can be built without creating unsafe roads.

most of the problems around harrington area with regards to traffic issues are caused by locals who have no regards to safety or road traffic law as they just park as and where they want. they dont care if its double yellow lines or a junction or a school no parking zone and thats what causes problems

"If you build it, he will come!" - Field of Dreams. Well he'll come if he can raise a 25% deposit while living in rented accomodation and can get a mortgage. But if he can't do that Housing Associations can buy the empties and he can carry on renting in one of the other fields of dreams!

even non residents of Harrington can see the utter chaos this developement will cause.. and as pointed out by stop, look and listen its not the house building it is the utter road chaos it will bring and the lack of facilities in our small village..there have been many accidents especially on the main road area and a police stats report should have been asked for..by the way since when has high Harrington got a shop and post office and has garth school been resurrected..according to Fairhursts all this is still in operation..its a joke..

In reply to Rabbit...can I ask if you are to be affected by the proposal of 150+ houses to be built or are you just someone who like our council doesnt care about the concerns and impractabilities of such a huge influx of people.cars and lorries..not to mention the months if not years of heavy site traffic..and we are not nimbys..we are realists..

Rabbit: not a case of NIMBY! Objections are not to the actual building of the High Harrington houses, it's about planners seeing sense and dangers! Road improvements have beeb long overdue for years, hence the by-pass discussions. The road in low Harrington and along the A597 is dangerous, several SERIOUS accidents on the main drag and many minor. Police will have record of all the RTCs if Highways dept are unaware. Move somewhere else?? Have you seen how many houses are for sale?? I am not a resident so NIMBY doesn't come into it for me personally!

The support planners fairhursts acting for Thomas Armstrong cant even get simple facts right..3-4 schools within easy walking distance of proposed houses?????? I beg to differ 2 schools within driving distance..both at capacity..greed of developers knows no bounds and these houses are not needed for families as their is a glut of houses to rent within a 1-2 mile radius of Harrington..and by the way whoever did the projected number of children that will live in these 80 homes needs a reality check...7 children between 80 families do you really think we are that gullible..14/15 houses to be social ..build council houses instead of selling them all off..
