OAP dies in Lake District car crash

A pensioner died following a car crash in the Lake District.
Emergency services were called to the one-vehicle crash on Lake Road in Bowness-on-Windermere at its junction with Glebe Road, at 2.50pm yesterday.
Elizabeth Mary Robertson Thompson, 68, from Marlow, Buckinghamshire, who was a rear seat passenger in the Nissan Note, died at the scene.
Three other occupants were all taken to hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for about four hours while officers investigated the crash.
