Now plait’s magic!

When Angel Carr was styling her sister’s hair one day, she never thought she would make more than a hundred pounds for her design which is being adopted by many hairdressers.

The 10-year-old’s plait has captured the eye of 10 hair salons in Workington who all gave the youngster £10 to use her style.

Angel gave them all a20-minute demonstration on how to create the look and left a picture in the salons for customers to see.

And nobody is prouder of Angel’s success at such a young age, than her father Pat Carr.

The 37-year-old from Mossbay said: “Angel does all of her sister’s hair and is really creative. She is very talented.

“One day she showed me a plait she had done in her sister Kristi’s hair.

“I asked her who had shown her how to do that and she said she was trying to do one and it turned out this way.”

Armed with photographs of her design and her two sisters as models, the family went round hair salons in the town, giving demonstrations on how to create the look.

“It went really well,” said Mr Carr. “Not one of the hairdressers have seen a plait like it. We had the idea to go around the hairdressers for Angel to get some recognition out of it.”

One hairdresser who is impressed with Angel’s style, is Carmen Brown, owner of Barberella Hair and Beauty Studio on Vulcan’s Lane.

“For a young girl of her age to be so talented with her fingers is amazing,” she said. “I have encouraged her and given a few tips.”

Speaking about the plait, Mrs Brown said: “I feel it’s unique. It’s similar to a fishtail plait, but it’s very tight and more secure, so for wedding hair it could be better for the bride.

“Angel’s been in and shown us what to do. She’s a lovely little girl.

“I would like to say good luck and if she ever wants advice for her future career, I’m more than happy to help.”

Mr Carr said that he hoped Angel would put the money she has made into the bank, but unfortunately the fashion-mad girl has told him she’ll be spending it on clothes.

Other hairdressers where Angel’s style is on offer in Workington are Images, Vizion, Identity, Mode 1, Cutting Co, Closecut, Just Jackie’s, Lorrae Marie and McSherry Hair inDistington.
