North Cumbrian road closed after tractor and trailer overturn

A main road into Dalston will be closed for "some considerable time" after a tractor and trailer overturned.

The B5299 Dalston Road is closed between Peter Lane and the village while recovery work is undertaken.

No-one is believed to have been hurt.

The tractor collided with a wall, shedding its load of cut grass across the road.

It was the second incident on the road within a short period of time.

Emergency services were called to a crash at 3.15pm involving a car and motorcycle at the Peter Lane junction.

The car driver and passenger were said to be shaken but uninjured.

The motorcyclist was conscious at the scene and suffered a suspected broken leg.

He was taken by ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash caused long delays in both directions while emergency services dealt with it.
