No sign of rats in Workington back lane
Last updated at 11:24, Friday, 28 September 2012
Council officers say they have found no sign of rats living in a Workington street despite a pensioner said her life was being made a misery by the vermin.
Alice and Colin Smith said they were living in fear that the street they live on, Hawksley Terrace, would soon be infested with rats after they spotted two running up and down the back lane outside their home.
Council officers investigated but a spokeswoman said they had not found any evidence of rats.
Sewers at Derwent Street and Brow Top in the town centre are, however, currently being laced with rat bait.
The work is being carried out by United Utilities on behalf of the council.
