Do you want to know if your baby will be ginger?

Your children could have ginger hair even if neither parent does – and a simple DNA test can identify carriers of the ginger gene.

Have your say

I have a daughter who is a red head, neither myself or her dad are. I took the article to say parents can find out the family history of where it came from.

For those, who want to test if there child would have "ginger",We are a super abnormal family, according to this article, as both me and my husband have red (I LOTHE the term "GINGER" its a root spice NOT a colour) and my daughter has the most beautiful curly red (and I use the term red loosly, as its not really red, its a magnificent mixture of tichian, auburn, flecks of amber, gold and red, I tell her that her hair is the colour of a morrocan sunset, not ginger!) hair, she is my world, and if you choose to "test or reject" people with red hair, this is what you will miss.............. a magical little person, who will amaze you from the second you see a tiny flickering heart beat on the scan montor........till the day you die...........this is a person, a beautful, strong, willful, loving, kind and amazing little child, her hair colour is insignificant to her, so why should it bother others? You sad, sick people don't deserve to experience the love of a child of your own, if you seriously think the colour of their hair matters for even a millisecond.

i find this article vile and quite honestly borderline racist.....whoever wrote it obviously has nothing better to do and must be surplus to requirements.....i think you will lose a lot of readers for printing this...disgusting

i agree this artical would cause trouble if it was about skin coulour.someone with nothing better to do but mock i think .

I can not believe this article has been printed. it is extremely offensive to people with red hair. The article promotes the idea that being different is not socially acceptable and more or less promotes the ethnic cleansing of people with red hair! Shocking!!!!

as a red head myself i find this very offensive, this is up the with racism and sexism. it is just a colour

Completely agree, Gary. Hair colour makes as much difference as skin colour does.

What a disgraceful article. Would we be discussing the colour of people's skin like this? What difference does it make what colour hair you have? Articles like this suggest that people with red hair are somehow different.
The comic that is the News & Star has just sunk to a new low.

I love a good red head - they are the most fun any day of the week (or weekend!)
