It follows delays in the signing of a key agreement.

The debt-stricken West Cumberland Hospital in Whteihaven and Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, are in the process of being taken over by new bosses from Northumbria.

An interim chief executive from the new trust - Ann Farrar - was due to take over the reigns on Monday after Neil Goodwin stood down.

But with key parts of the takeover deal still not resolved that has been delayed.

In the meantime, deputy chief executive Alistair Mulvey will be in charge.
